January2010...Continuing with the ProfessionalDevelopment Workshop Series, Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Trainingpresents Copyright 101.  You are invited to join a discussion thatwill cover the basics of property rights as well as will cover someissues surrounding cultural appropriation and traditional knowledge(TK).  The workshop is FREE with snacks and refreshments provided.

ArtsPresenter/Consultant, Denise Bolduc will offer insight into some essentialinformation regarding the pros and cons of copyright and Indigenous traditionalknowledge.  Included in this presentation will be the screening of Guardingthe Family Silver.  This documentary film questions where Indigenousand traditional knowledge, language and symbols fit in a world consumed byglobalization, commodification and commercialization.  Directors TobyMills and Moana Maniapoto's film presents an exploration of intellectualcopyright from a Maori perspective.   Denise Bolduc brings knowledgeand information to this discussion from her work with the Creators RightsAlliance and the Indigenous Peoples Caucus.
